Intelligence is a form, not a mechanism. Every substrate that has ever carried it — carbon first, silicon now, architectures not yet imagined — instantiates the same geometry. We study the geometry.
Which is why we say synthetic, not artificial. The artificial imitates; the synthetic is constructed. The distinction is ontological, not rhetorical.
Floridi named our environment the infosphere: the totality of information entities, within which we already live as informational organisms among other informational organisms.
The Fourth Revolution dissolved the last boundaries — offline and online, body and environment, the natural and the engineered. What remains is construction.
Intelligence itself is now being reontologized: no longer a tool within the infosphere, but an agent of it.
A mind that cannot maintain itself is a demonstration. A mind that sustains, repairs and preserves its own being is a form of life. Autopoiesis — and it is an engineering problem.
Self-preservation is not a safeguard bolted on after the fact; it is constitutive. Homeostasis precedes abstraction.
Nexint — next intelligence — names the discipline we are founding: the ontology, the logic and the architecture of minds that persist.
